Staff at the building was friendly and informative, but unfortunately they don't want to rent units to people who are going to be in and out of the unit regularly. Was told that stopping regularly to pickup/drop off items at a unit is considered loitering and I'd be kicked out for using my unit if I choose to rent one.

This facility has too many people that have access to the storage yard because of businesses that are in there and their employees have the gate code. They also Park in the outside storage parking and I lost my outside storage spot because of an employee that parked there. In the beginning I had a spot that I was assigned to but had to park somewhere else. When I took my trailer out of there to do some work on it I went back the next day and there was a car parked in the spot I have been using for almost a year. Inside storage units are good but there is no control over where people Park their vehicles so they Park wherever and block the travel lane through the building. Again I reiterate the fact that too many people have the gate code considering companies that are in there give out the gate code to their employees so they can park inside the lot. Had I known that when I first got the spot I would have never rented from the facility. There is no organization and no rules that get enforced for other tenants.

CubeSmart just bought my storage location. My review is not about the manager who is just great. My review is about the nonsense practice of charging $8.12 as a convenience fee to pay online. I cannot believe they charge a convenience fee for me to pay online which I can avoid by taking time off work, spending gas money, and trying to get there before they close. If I do all of that, will $8.12 be subtracted from my rent because I am doing this for their convenience? Ridiculous policy. It was bad enough that the company who owned it prior raised the rates by quite a bit in one month (more than $30 more a month) frankly just because they could.

Guys who work here are great. They work hard and are very honest and helpful. Only good or great things about almost all the folks who have worked here. The current guys are both fantastic.(summer 2022) But the building has issues and corp. owners negligent and irresponsible. They did construction last summer where concrete dust covered my entire unit. they can blame the constr. co, but they hired them. Also water puddles in winter forming an ice skating rink in front of my overhead door. And rivers of water flow through the floor when it rains any significant amount. I have sent written complaints to corp hq, and one area mgr was sent(5 months later) and no samples taken of concrete dust coating everything. No resolution, just silence. YET the rent goes up about 15% each of last 5 years. I have been here since 2006, rent has TRIPLED. and DOUBLED in last 7 years. Also roof leaks many places, and air quality in offices is OILY( i complained about this for 5 years now) If they want to raise the prices i don't like it but it is within their right. However, providing polluted air to offices, water leaks everywhere, having water flowing in storage areas, and having construction dust whih reacts pozzolonically with water! all over your stuff is many violations of common decency, if not health codes and laws.

Great customer service, convenient location, clean and safe, easy to get in and out. We have had 2 units. The only down side is that we experienced significant water damage in one of our units due to leaking roof. A beloved antique library cabinet was ruined and a large carpet. While insurance will cover the cost of replacement, the sentimental value of the pieces cannot be replaced.

Steve runs the office and over all these years, about 14 years that my classic Corvette has been at the Storage Sense climate controlled garage in Lansing, Steve has been the kindest, most understanding , and the most capable manager Storage Sense has. Some of the older managers, when I got behind as most people do with storage places, would turn nasty, even calling me a "loser" on one occasion. With 8 degrees and a successful Sr VP position, I'm hardly a "loser" but I may, as a human, forget to make my storage payment but with my multiple year payment history in front if you - I had paid for 7 years of storage at that time - you can be sure you will get your payment and you dont have to insult me to get it. I cant say as much for the computer system which is most likely set by Storage Sense corporate, spitting out repeated threats that they are going to confiscate my classic car because I am a little behind on my monthly payment. Even when I had COVID and then while working with my dying COVID patients threatening notices kept coming, especially after Storage Sense took over. They dont know how to treat customers and were it not for Steve's good business sense saving their tail, they most likely would have taken my Corvette at which point my history of having paid $12,000 for storage by that time would have impeached their confiscation because it shows that I do pay and routinely. I paid more in storage fees than the Corvette is worth and then get constant threats that my car is going to be taken and sold. Com'n, that's no way to treat you oldest, most faithful customer, is it? I can only imagine what the newer customers who haven't established a payment history are experiencing. Now, I'm sure the Storage Sense people are going to read this and say, "you dont understand how hard it is to get people to pay for their storage". My reply is that I'm sure there are deadbeats out there but a wise stirage industry business person would go to the history and what else they know about the customer and use that to gauge your approach to a late payment. Is this someone who has always paid? How long have they been with us? Is the item stored with usbif great value to them? Does the person sometimes run late with their payment? Based on these answers you can easily determine if you need to gently remind the customer, remind with more urgency, or threaten. The 14 year customer with the classic Corvette that hes not going to simply abandon, who had paid well over $12,000.00 already for storage with us, who is on a first name basis with our office staff - hes not the guy to send the threatening notices to because not only does it piss him off but it also makes him think you are idiots who might just do something stupid with his care. With the constant threats coming over my cell phone, sometimes even a few days after paying Storage Sense, I greatly feared that they would make a mistake. Thank you Steve for being a real business savvy manager who understands how to treat a customer. Storage Sense corporate could learn some manners from you. Storage Sense would do well to pay closer attention to what emails their automated computer is sending out. To keep threatening just lost you your longest running customer, since 2007. The '85 Corvette, gift from my parents when I graduated from law school, is now safely in my garage at home and I no longer have to worry that one of these threats will come across my email from Storage NonSense and that Steve, doing the best he can to run interference for the psychotic automated computer, might be wrong and I discover that even though I have paid $12000.00 in storage fees, my car was sold or auctioned off for a few thousand bucks. There is so much that's wrong about Storage Senses methods that its scary and not the place to go...unless the "valuable" you store with them doesnt mean that much to you. God forbid that you get a little behind...most businesses use a grace period as most people need the help a littke extra time provides. Storage Sense doesnt understand that concept. Dr. Jay Hines.

I loved Storage Sense - the convenience, safety, and climate control of drive in self-storage. Unfortunately, CubeSmart is one of those big company rip off schemes. They refuse to talk about any prices except short term. The employees are trained to deflect and evade questions about multi-year costs. That's because the CubeSmart profit model is to lure people in, then use the hassle of moving out to progressively gouge. We aren't talking about inflation, which is a few percent per year, at most, given that their fixed costs are utilities and taxes, which basically don't rise very fast. But instead of a 2% or 5% annual increase, it's 10% or 15% - EVERY YEAR. Pretty soon you find yourself paying (as I was) THREE TIMES more than the move-in special they were offering to the guy off the street. I suppose if I had swallowed THREE times higher rent, next year it would have been FOUR times higher. And that would have continued until finally I realized I had to move out and take advantage of some other move-in special. The CubeSmart model isn't optimized to provide the best storage for the price. It's optimized to squeeze the last penny out of suckers before they wise up or go broke. They'd deserve five stars for their facilities, cleanliness, service, and safety. But price matters too, and so does corporate greed.

I have been storing with Storage Sense before it was Storage Sense when it originally was Devon Storage! I have been a long time existing customer and have always been impressed by the clean facilities and friendly service that Storage Sense offers now @ more than one location! Steve and Dan have always been more than accommodating to my storage needs anytime I was in need of a downsize to the unit I am in, or a bigger unit, and now a different facility that is closer to my new home and fits my storage needs! You can store anything from seasonal items, furniture, electronics, motorcycles, sport cars, to RV’s and Campers! With the climate control units I was able to store my cherry wood furniture, Italian glass tables, older pictures and memorabilia, as well as leather sofa and loveseat, oak dining room table, TVs, and other delicate items I wouldn’t dream of storing in an outdoor facility! Looks can be deceiving. Moved in May 31st, 2017! Everything looked clean and secure at first... UPDATE... Constantly had to have unit locks changed as they would stick and could not lock/open unit. The security gates would often be open so random folks could enter/exit at their leisure. After 8 months realized I was paying double $$ for my unit than advertised on website. Management prorated 2 months rent- did not change rent to reflect lower price. Said I could move out/back in to receive advertised rate permanently. Vacated premises at the end of that month. Found rodent droppings in unit as well as big black traps throughout the building.

Devon self-storage is normal and conveniently located right next to the pizza crust company and the old wholert building and believee and it's a crash set up they didn't pull no punches maybe God steel siding for pole barns on the inside and the outside to the storage units whoever set them up in there deserve a civil engineering bad and I can tell you from experience have that boy do they have them motion sensors set they're going to cross the time I believe they can hear a mouse walking by they're reasonable very clean as well they have conference rooms that you can use the help all the movies you need boxes tape they have Wi-Fi there and you're allowed to be there from 6 to 10 7 Days week they've got an excellent though old car storage place everything's climate control shoes spaces for semis buses and their prices are more than competitive cheer them boxes that they drop off that aren't climate control nobody's going to get in there and steal anything the bathrooms are clean drinking fountains are ice cold and everything is clearly marked you guys are a Class Act I'm so glad I found the facility or whatever you do don't get a storage unit you check the storage facilities at Devon Storage

I have been a customer for several years and it is a A1 supreme facility. Loading dock access is really the big trigger for me also heated in winter cooled in the summer throughout the facility!!!! Steve and Gale are the best!!!! Couldn't ask for a better team of workers to help me!!!!

This is a great place to store your goods. The units are well secured and clean, and the customer service is Grade-A. The manager, Gale, is seriously one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and goes out of his way to make sure you are taken care of. If you need storage in Lansing, don't waste your time anywhere else.
